"Canary in a Coal Mine"
Have you ever heard this saying?
It is a quote from the old mining days when miners would hit a pocket of gas or discover a new mine shaft. The miners would bring a Canary in a cage, if the Canary sings and stays active for a certain amount of time then the miners were safe from Harm. If the Canary gets sick or dies quickly, the miners have to vacate the mine and ventilate it until it is safe to go in. The Canary has one purpose, to breath in and out until enough time passes where it either dies or it lives.
The expression has been passed down from the past to people who use the term when they feel like they are being put in that exact position. Do you ever have to come out of your comfort zone? If you do, you feel like you can't even catch your breath until you go back to the comfort of your safe place. I am being put in that position it seems like every day lately. I am actually realizing that I am not only starting to feel comfortable, but I am really coming into my own. I am starting to like the position I am in and how it makes me feel.
Now if I can keep balancing my family life and work life, I will be in pretty good shape. My wife hopefully is happier now that I can spend more time at home while I am in this position. It has been so nice to be home more and I hope that this will continue for a long time.
So if you ever feel like you are a "Canary in a Coal Mine", remember to breathe in and breathe out, for you too will survive whatever life throws at you. God never gives you more than you can handle. God gives you what you need, not what you want.

Steve,
You are so right and we have to remember about the birds of the air, if God will take care of them, how much more important to Him are we, than the birds. He will provide for all our needs! Not all our wants. I knew you would love this job because you are creative and can solve things when people want to give up.
Hope you can continue to glorify God while you are in it.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
